Willing Hearts Memorial Garden

Willing Hearts Memorial Garden icon

The Willing Hearts Memorial Garden was dedicated in September of 2017, in memory of longtime hospital supporter, former KDMC board member, and Willing Hearts Circle member, Sue Fenn Minter.

The garden is located on the northwest end of the hospital and it features a four-foot Maltese cross, which is the symbol of the Willing Hearts. This cross was built by Sue Fenn Minter's husband, James, and it serves to commemorate Sue Fenn Minter and Willing Hearts members who have passed away. This garden is surrounded by beautiful flowers and open to the public as a place to come sit peacefully.

Memorial bricks and benches can be purchased in memory of a loved one, or simply as a token of your support to our hospital.

T-Shirt Sales

8 women wearing t shirts

If you’ve been to King’s Daughters Medical Center or one of our clinics lately, you’ve probably seen one of our employees decked out in a KDMC t-shirt or sweatshirt. They wear these in a wide range of colors. You may haven’t even seen us proudly displaying them at the store or a sporting event. These shirts are part of a fundraising effort by the KDMC Foundation. Foundation President and KDMC Occupational Wellness Director Melissa Leggett picks out colors and designs.

Our employees buy these and love wearing them to work and to play. It gives them a comfortable way to go about their day and they get to proudly display their organization’s logo. It’s been a fun little idea that sprang up at the beginning of the pandemic and remains a continued effort by the Foundation.

Thanks to all KDMC employees who help make us better in so many different ways.

ICU Waiting Room Renovation

Through the generous donation of Frances Brady, the KDMC Foundation was able to renovate and dedicate the Thomas Pickens Brady, Jr. ICU Waiting Room. Families now have a comfortable spot to spend hours while monitoring the progress of their loved ones in our Intensive Care Unit. The space features sleeping chairs, a big-screen television, and a snack area.

Bereavement Room
