Kdmc CEO, Alvin Hoover Recognized as Senior Health Care Executive

Brookhaven, MS – Mississippi Healthcare Executives, an Independent Chapter of the American College of Healthcare Executives recognized King’s Daughters Medical Center’s CEO, Alvin Hoover, as the 2022 Senior Health Care Executive for Mississippi at their annual leadership meeting.

King’s Daughters Chief Operating Officer, Tom Hood said, “Alvin has a passion for achieving goals and high performance. His reputation as a Fellow in ACHE is well known -. His wisdom, guidance, and counsel are sought after by all who know him. He is the epitome of healthcare leadership and represents the designation of Fellow of ACHE to the fullest. His unwavering approach to excellence, leadership, and stewardship to the community are hallmarks we should all strive towards.”

Nominees had to meet the following criteria to be considered.

  • Fellow of ACHE (American College of Healthcare Executives)
  • CEO, COO, or other Sr. Level executive title within their organization
  • Demonstration of leadership ability
  • Demonstration of innovative and creative management
  • Executive capability in developing his/her organization
  • Executive capability their organizations growth and stature in the community
  • Contributions to the development of others in the healthcare profession
  • Demonstration of leadership in local or state hospital/healthcare association activities
  • Participation in civic/community activities and projects
  • Demonstration of participation in ACHE activities and proven assistance in helping ACHE achieve its objectives

Alvin received his bachelor’s degree from Houghton College, Houghton, NY, he received a master’s in education from Georgia State University, and a master’s in health care administration from Central Michigan University.

Alvin became the CEO at King’s Daughters Medical Center (KDMC) in August 2007. His commitment to leading with integrity, intent, and vision is evident by his success at KDMC. His reputation and professionalism are well known throughout Mississippi. Since arriving in 2007 Alvin has led KDMC to be a regional destination for outstanding patient care and healthcare services.

To his credit, Alvin established a culture of “always” at KDMC. Starting with the Great Performance Improvement Adventure, where employees learn and understand “best practices,” performance improvement. These practices were hardwired throughout the organization.

Another initiative Alvin implemented; “Destination Always”- we always get it right. Following these guidelines, KDMC has exceeded many national benchmarks and recognized for their outstanding employee engagement, patient satisfaction, patient safety, value-based purchasing, and quality outcomes that benefit their patients and community.

Alvin continually promotes a culture of safety – two consecutive grading periods achieving Leapfrog Grade “A” for Hospital Safety. As one of Modern Healthcare’s Best Places to Work, he instills pride in KDMC while advancing inclusion, transparency, and constant employee engagement with all 700+ employees and medical staff.

March 2020 marked the beginning of the pandemic at KDMC. Because of Alvin Hoover’s guidance, KDMC became the trusted source of information for the community. KDMC responded to the needs of the community by fulfilling its mission of “Always providing quality health and wellness in a Christian environment.” Alvin’s commitment to his staff and KDMC family encouraged the entire hospital to press forward and care for the community.
