Harper Stone, MD

About Harper

Dr. Stone completed his medical school training at the University of Mississippi School of Medicine and continued his postgraduate training in internal medicine and cardiology at the University of Mississippi Medical Center. Board certified in internal medicine and cardiovascular disease, he is also licensed in nuclear medicine. In 2009, Dr. Stone helped form and continues to serve as chairman for the Jackson Heart Foundation. He organized the Mississippi Healthcare Alliance in 2010 to improve cardiovascular care for the state and has served as president since its inception. This led to Mississippi being the second state in the nation to have a STEMI (ST-elevation myocardial infarction, a very serious type of heart attack) system of care and the first state in the nation to have a STEMI, stroke and trauma system of care. Dr. Stone also serves as the co-chair for the STEMI advisory committee for the Mississippi Department of Health. Additionally, Dr. Stone has served on numerous other national committees, including as president of the Greater Southeast Affiliate for American Heart Association and working with the American Heart Association Mission: Lifeline (M:L) advisory workgroup, Surviving MI (myocardial infarction or heart attack) workgroup, and the M:L accreditation task force. Dr. Stone and his wife have two children. As a family, they enjoy spending time at the beach and attending sporting events.
